Our small group ministry at Family Life Church is called LIFE GROUPS. These small groups are designed to provide adults with the opportunity to join with a small group of people (usually 12 or less) for fellowship, food, deeper study of each weeks’ sermon and prayer. Many groups meet in homes, and others are held at the church. A group facilitator leads in discussion and question and answer times.
STATEMENT OF FAITH
We believe. . .
. . .the Bible is the inspired and only infallible and authoritative written Word of God.
. . .there is one God, eternally existent in three persons: God the Father, God the Son, and God the Holy Ghost.
. . .in the deity of our Lord Jesus Christ, in His virgin birth in His sinless life, in His miracles, in His vicarious and atoning death, in His bodily resurrection, in His Ascension to the right hand of the Father, in His personal future return to this earth in power and glory to rule a thousand years.
. . .in the blessed hope — the rapture of the Church at Christ’s coming.
. . .the only means of being cleansed from sin is through repentance and faith in the precious blood of Christ.
. . .in water baptism by immersion.
. . .in the redemptive work of Christ on the cross provides healing of the human body in answer to believing prayer.
. . .the baptism in the Holy Spirit is given to believers who ask for it. The baptism of Christians in the Holy Spirit is accompanied by the initial physical sign of speaking in other tongues (unlearned languages) as the Spirit of God gives them audible expression (Acts 2:4).
WHAT TO EXPECT IN OUR WORSHIP SERVICES
WHY DO WE CLAP OUR HANDS!
The act of clapping our hands is a form of praise which is mentioned frequently in the scriptures: “O clap your hands all ye people; shout to God with the voice of triumph.”
(Psalm 47:1). “For ye shall go out with joy, and be led forth with peace; the mountains and the hills shall break forth before you into singing and all the trees of the field shall clap their hands.” (Isaiah 55:12)
WHY DO WE LIFT OUR HANDS?
The act of lifting our hands is a form of praising the Lord. More than fifty times in the Psalms the word “Towdah” or “Yadah” is translated “praise,” where in actuality the words mean “to extend the hands in praise.” Some other Scriptures that mention praise are: “Thus will I bless Thee while I live, I will lift up my hands in Thy Name.” (Psalm 63:4) “I will therefore that men pray everywhere lifting up holy hands, without wrath and doubting.” (Timothy 2:8)
WHY DO WE PRAISE THE LORD OUT LOUD?
“Shout for joy to the Lord, all the earth. Serve the Lord with gladness; come before Him with joyful songs.” (Psalm 100:1-2) “And after these things I heard a great voice of much people in heaven saying, ‘Hallelujah! Salvation and glory and honor, and power unto the Lord our God’. . .And I heard as it were the voice of a great multitude, like the roar of rushing waters and like loud peals of thunder, shouting: ‘Hallelujah! For our Lord God Almighty reigns.’” Revelation 19:1-6)
WHY ARE MUSICAL INSTRUMENTS A PART
OF THE WORSHIP SERVICE?
“Praise Him with trumpet blasts; praise him with harps and lyres. Praise him with tambourines and dancing; praise him with stringed instruments and flutes.” (Psalm 150:3-5)
WHY DOES THE WHOLE CHURCH PRAY
AT ONCE FOR SPECIFIC NEEDS?
“And when they heard that they lifted up their voices with one accord and said, “Lord, Thou art God, which has made heaven and earth…” (Acts 4:24)
WHY DO WE PRAY FOR THE SICK
AND ANOINT WITH OIL?
“If any of you are sick: You should call the elders of the church to pray over him and anoint him with oil in the name of the Lord. And the prayer offered in faith will make the sick person well: the Lord will raise Him up, if he has sinned he will be forgiven.” (James 5:14-15)
“Beloved, let us love one another: for love is of God
and everyone that loveth is born of God,
and knoweth God.”
I John 4:7
